Most homes are lit by one decision made late: a grid of downlights, the same in every room. It works, but it makes a drawing room feel like a corridor. Good home lighting is built in layers — a soft general level, brighter light where you work, and a few accents on the things worth looking at.
Voltedge supplies the fixtures for all three layers and helps you decide where each one goes. Bring your floor plan or false-ceiling drawing to the showroom in F-7 Markaz and compare the options under real light before anything is ordered.
Room by room
- Living and drawing rooms
- A magnetic track or a linear profile gives the general light; adjustable spots pick out artwork, shelving and the feature wall. A chandelier or pendant over the seating anchors the room. Keep each layer on its own switch or dimmer.
- Kitchens
- Worktops need bright, shadow-free light at around 4000K: recessed downlights over the counters and a profile light under wall cabinets. A pendant row over the island does the decorative work.
- Bedrooms
- Warm 3000K light, dimmable, with no downlight directly over the pillow. Cove light in the ceiling recess, bedside wall lights or lamps, and wardrobe lights that come on with the door. A fibre optic starry ceiling is a popular feature for master suites and children's rooms.
- Stairs and corridors
- Step lights or a continuous profile along the wall guide the way without glare. Motion-sensor stair controllers light each step as you walk.
- Bathrooms
- Fittings rated IP44 or higher near water, with light on both sides of the mirror rather than only above it.
- Gardens, terraces and facades
- Bollards along paths, spike lights under trees, wall washers on the elevation and lights for pools and water features — all rated for outdoor use.
Choosing colour temperature
Colour temperature decides the mood of a home more than any fitting does. As a starting point: 3000K warm white for living rooms, bedrooms and dining; 4000K natural white for kitchens, studies and dressing rooms; 6500K only where a very crisp, cool light is wanted. Keep one colour temperature per room, and choose fittings with a CRI above 80 so fabrics, food and skin tones look right.
Our Light Lab lets you switch fixtures on in a real room and slide the colour temperature from 2200K to 6500K, so you can see the difference before you decide.
What to decide before the false ceiling is closed
- Recessed magnetic track and profile lights need channels built into the ceiling — tell your contractor before work starts.
- Downlight cut-out sizes differ between models; confirm the model before the ceiling is cut.
- Drivers and power supplies need an accessible, ventilated position, not a sealed void.
- Decide which lights dim and which switch together, so the wiring allows it.
- For a starry ceiling, the fibres are far easier to install before the ceiling is painted.

Questions we are asked
How many downlights does a room need?
It depends on the ceiling height, the wattage and beam angle of the fitting, and how the room is used, so there is no single number. As a rough guide, recessed downlights are usually spaced 1 to 1.5 metres apart, and kept about 60 cm from the walls. Send us the room dimensions and we will work out a layout.
Should I use warm white or cool white at home?
Warm white (3000K) suits living rooms and bedrooms, natural white (4000K) suits kitchens and work areas. Cool daylight (6500K) can feel harsh in a home and is best kept for utility spaces.
Can I see the lights before buying?
Yes. Our showroom is in F-7 Markaz, Islamabad, where you can compare fixtures, finishes and colour temperatures side by side.
Do you deliver outside Islamabad?
Yes. We deliver across Islamabad and Rawalpindi and ship to other cities in Pakistan.
