About Wall Lights
Wall lights put light at eye level, where ceiling fittings cannot. They soften a room, mark a corridor or stair, and frame a bed, mirror or doorway.
Placing wall lights
- Mount them about 1.5 to 1.7 m from the floor, so the source is not in the eye line.
- In a corridor, space them 2 to 2.5 m apart.
- Beside a bed or mirror, use a pair, one each side.
- An up-and-down light throws a beam both ways and shows off a textured wall.
Common questions
Can these wall lights be used outside?
Only those rated for outdoor use. Check the IP rating: IP44 for covered areas, IP65 where exposed to rain.
Do wall lights need a switch each?
No. They are normally wired together on one switch or dimmer, separate from the ceiling lights.
